The Michael Petrone Foundation and the Band of Brothers came together on Sunday, April 12 at Screwballs in King of Prussia to fundraise for Bob Kelly’s Kids (Fox 29) and the Patrician Society. More than 100 people showed up to the event. Everyone had a great time celebrating the work Patrician Society has been doing for 45 years. And the fundraiser was a great success!

On April Saturday, April 11th, members of the PA National Guard organized a Ruck March from Norristown to Phoenixville. On Monday April 13 the delivered the food they had carried in the March to Patrician Society. We are so grateful for their generosity and for their service!

As of February 1, SNAP recipients ages 18 to 64 without dependents need to work, volunteer, or participate in qualifying educational programs for at least 20 hours per week (80 hours monthly) to keep receiving SNAP benefits. 

• Minimum requirements:
• Work 20 hours per week or pre-tax earnings of $217.50 per week
• School/training program: A weekly total of 20 hours of class and study time or half-time enrollment
• Volunteering: 20 hours per week 

If recipients do not meet the new SNAP work requirements—or fail to report meeting the requirements—they will not receive more than three months of benefits over the course of three years.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that provides two million people in Pennsylvania assistance with groceries has implemented a series of changes that went into affect September 1st. These changes introduce work requirements and time limits that reduce eligibility and cut benefits for many families. Another program, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), which once provided us and other food pantries with a considerable amount of bulk nutritious food like meat, fruits, vegetables, and grains to distribute to the community, has been stripped of most of its funding and is no longer available to us. This was a really helpful source of fresh food for us, so losing it is unfortunate. We and other food banks are preparing for an increase in need while navigating a strained landscape, so we encourage everyone to come together and check on your neighbors and your community during this transition. 

Yearly registration for the food pantry begins in July. Please plan to bring identification with you and for each household member if you’re collecting for a family. Acceptable forms of identification include:

• state-issued driver’s licenses or identification
• foreign IDs
• passports
• birth certificates
• insurance cards (for children)

For the fourth year in a row, Liberty Mutual employees joined us as part of their annual “Serve with Liberty” service program. They helped with our mass of canned goods, among other things, making a dent in one of most tedious ongoing duties. We look forward to welcoming them back in 2026.
